Say what you will about the Luke Cage series as a whole, which I did, but there’s one thing we can all agree on, and that’s the soundtrack was bananas. People began to wonder when Marvel would officially release it for mass consumption, well our prayers have been answered, as the licensed tracks have been made available to stream as of today.
The announcement was made via the Marvel Facebook page, and the full playlist is currently available on Spotify. The playlist includes songs that were featured on the Netflix show, as well as a few tracks that inspired the tone of the show, from artists such as A Tribe Called Quest, Redman and EPMD. They’ve also included the track “Bulletproof Love” by Method Man, which was created for the show.
“What about the original score” you ask? Well, Marvel has you covered there too. The full soundtrack will be available to purchase THIS WEEK.
Marvel is set to release the digital soundtrack for the Netflix original series “Marvel’s Luke Cage,” on October 7, 2016. The album features original score composed by Ali Shaheed Muhammad and Adrian Younge. Influences ranging from David Axelrod, Ennio Morricone, to A Tribe Called Quest and Wu Tang Clan are brought to life in the series and soundtrack. Miguel Atwood-Ferguson orchestrated and conducted a 30-piece orchestra for each episode of the series. The album was executive produced by Andrew Lojero.
So if you want to bang that theme song on your speakers without having to actually watch the show, you’ll have your chance this Friday.
