But Deficient On The Depp
I’d ask who wanted this movie, but the last Pirates of the Caribbean flick made just shy of a gazillion dollars, and of course warranted a sequel. One would have a pretty strong case in saying that the overall quality of the films have dropped with every sequel, and an increased focus on Captain Jack Sparrow and I couldn’t tell you anyone who actually liked the last one, On Stranger Tides, but here we are. Five years removed and another Pirates movie on the way.
One thing you can never take away from these films are the visuals. Disney typically goes all out on the creature effects and Dead Men Tell No Tales appears to be no different. Instead of skeletons, and sea creatures, Javier Bardem and his crew appear to be zombies that are stuck in a perpetual state of ocean walking. Floating in place while everyone else moves normally. It’s a subtle yet unnerving effect. This film will once again follow the dude that’s not Orlando Bloom and Johnny Depp as Jack Sparrow, the side character that has stolen the whole damn show.
I can’t tell if enough time has passed for people to care about this franchise again, or if it’s just beating the hell out of Seabiscuit. Either way, you’ve got a teaser and a few months to make up your mind before Pirates of the Caribbean 5 hits theaters.
