Wrasslin’ State of Mined: The Champs A Comin’, Dolph Fights for His Career and RAW Flounders (09.28.16)

Not If, But When

John Cena is going to win the WWE World Championship. It’s going to happen in the near future. He will be able to call himself a 16 time champ, tying Ric Flair as the only other man to accomplish the feat. We’ve all made our peace with that fact, I hope. You can argue whether or not he “deserves” it if you like, I very much take a Snoop from The Wire approach to it all. Deserves really got nothing to do with it. He’s put in the time in, and the work. The real accomplishment will be paying off that victory in such a way that the fans cheer, and give the desired response WWE will need for promo packages they’ll run for the next decade.  Continue reading Wrasslin’ State of Mined: The Champs A Comin’, Dolph Fights for His Career and RAW Flounders (09.28.16)

Agents of SHIELD Review: MEET THE NEW BOSS

I See Kinda Dead People

Agents of SHIELD came roaring into season 4 with a darker tone, and a fresh take on the Ghost Rider character in episode 1. Episode two, Meet The New Bossexpanded upon the supernatural side of things, including a cold open featuring ghosts, and some pretty specific name drops.  Continue reading Agents of SHIELD Review: MEET THE NEW BOSS

Wrasslin’ State of Mined: WWE Clash of Champions Recap (09.26.16)

Too Much of a Good Thing

The Monday Night Raw solo PPV, Clash of Champions has passed, and with it, any gleaming hope that two PPV events per month won’t completely burn out the already weary public. It was only a few short weeks ago that Backlash, Smackdown Live’s solo PPV gave us something to look forward to. Matches with high stakes and a much appreciated runtime (Backlash ended early, and gave us the tail end of our Sunday back). I haven’t looked at the official runtime for the event, but it felt like a typical episode of RAW, which isn’t what you want from your first solo outing. The wrasslin’ was great, the matches were given time to breathe, but it in the end, the entire event just felt bloated.  Continue reading Wrasslin’ State of Mined: WWE Clash of Champions Recap (09.26.16)

Lethal Weapon Series Premiere Review

It’s Really Lethal Weapon 3, Got It!

*SPOILERS BELOW*

Lethal Weapon may not be the show that we asked for, but it’s here, and for all the bitching and moaning from the usual bitchers and moaners, the show won’t cancel out your love for the films they’re based on. I won’t even go so far as to say “if you go in with an open mind” because basing a TV show on an existing franchise pretty much destroys any chance of that happening. What I will say is, if you go in expecting a mix of ALL the Lethal Weapon films, mixed with modern sensibilities, there’s a good amount of enjoyment to be had with the show.  Continue reading Lethal Weapon Series Premiere Review

Wrasslin’ State of Mined: Table is Set For Clash of Champions, Miz Is (Actually) Awesome, More Despondent Cena (09.21.2016)

Reign Falling From The Sky

Man, this week felt a little lean didn’t it? Like, there were clearly things happening, but since a lot of the matches were set a week or more ago, there wasn’t much to do aside from cement them a bit more leading into Clash of Champions . There was the further unraveling of Mick Foley as the RAW GM who is clearly losing control of the talent. I do love that he gets to dip into some past stories to get points across, but by and large he goes ignored. On top of that, he’s torn between doing what’s right, and what makes his boss happy, and in trying to please everyone, it pleases no one. The match he made between Rusev and Seth Rollins was a prime example. Each of these guys interrupted a match, and “assaulted” talent, so their punishment was to fight each other? There was no heat there, and punishing someone to do their job is something that can only happen in wrasslin’. I don’t think it works the same way for say, a mailman. Then again, i’m sure a janitor wants to spend as little time as possible doing their job.  Continue reading Wrasslin’ State of Mined: Table is Set For Clash of Champions, Miz Is (Actually) Awesome, More Despondent Cena (09.21.2016)

New Power Rangers Posters Give A Small Peek Of Their Zords

I’m Sure There Are Safer Places To Stand

Hey, angry fogie! Like it or not, your childhood will be pilfered for everything it’s worth in order to repackage, rebrand and reboot for movies and series nowadays. Now let’s ignore that most of the things that are being “rebooted” that you claim to be “ruining” your childhood, haven’t really gone anywhere. I’m looking at you angry TMNT fan that hasn’t watched the new series’ (which is pretty good btw) or equally disgruntled Power Ranger Dad that tapped out sometime around Zeo, when you noticed girls noticing you. The Power Rangers movie is set to drop March 2017, and the promotion machine should be kicking into gear soon, and just in time for NYCC, here are some new character posters that show off just a glimpse of the zords.  Continue reading New Power Rangers Posters Give A Small Peek Of Their Zords

Agents of SHIELD Season Premiere Review: THE GHOST

What’s In The Booooox?!

There, now that i’ve gotten the obvious, and unfortunately topical joke out of the way, I can talk about the Agents of SHIELD season 4 premiere episode The Ghost. Holy shit, we got Ghost Rider on prime time TV, and I don’t have an overwhelming feeling of embarrassment or shame! See kids, before one of our finest actors (fight me) turned him into a meme, Ghost Rider was a badass spectre, who used flaming chains and rode a motorcycle. While this isn’t the Johnny Blaze version of The Rider, Agents of SHIELD still leaned heavy on spectral mythology for their season opener.  Continue reading Agents of SHIELD Season Premiere Review: THE GHOST
