At Least It Looks Interesting
Damnit, we’ve come so far in the TMNT : Out of the Shadows marketing push, that i’m actually a little interested in this movie now. Interested enough to see it in theater? Probably not. I thought the first outing was borderline insulting. A far cry from most every incarnation of the characters we’ve known for almost 30 years. Not to mention, a director more interested in trying to be Michael Bay than just take some tips from producer. Still, this latest trailer doubles down on pretty much everything from the last film, which may not be such a bad thing.
See, the worst thing any movie can be is boring, and it appears that the people behind TMNT : Out of the Shadows have decided that “balls to the wall” is their modus operandi. We’ve got Beebop, Rocksteady, Baxter Stockman, Krang, the Turtle Van with nunchuck arms and the least stealthy turtles this side of a Cannon Films production. It all makes for sound and fury that’ll likely bring in the eyes for a less than stellar flick. Nostalgia may have brought in a sizable audience last time around, but they largely left disappointed. Now, we get to see the Bay machine go to work, making everything bigger and badder, context be damned. Which, on a base level, at least makes you want to take a look, and that’s all they need.
