In “How did we not see that coming news”, Colin Farrell has confirmed that he’s been cast as one of the leads for season two of HBO’s wildly popular True Detective.
Farrell made the announcement to Ireland’s Sunday World , stating “I’m doing the second series. I’m so excited”. And he has every reason to be, True Detective was HBO’s most watched new show, and garnered more than a few EMMY nominations. Farrell also falls into step with the original duo as a long-time character actor who had more acting chops than normally given credit for, much like Woody Harrelson and Matthew Mcconaughey.
There has been no official word on who will be cast in the (rumored) remaining two spots. Names like Vince Vaughn, Taylor Kitsch, Michelle Forbes, and Elizabeth Moss have all been mentioned. Fast & Furious Director, Justin Lin has also been attached to direct the first two episodes. While Farrell is the only confirmed name so far, other pieces should fall into place soon as the second season is set to air mid-2015.
